1. Direct Anterior Approach
Cosmetically Appealing “Barely There” Scar

Dr. Adams is one of a handful of surgeons who specializes in using the direct anterior approach for total hip replacement combining it with the cosmetically appealing “bikini incision” method of the anterior approach.

  • Appearance – Sometimes called the “bikini” incision, the direct anterior approach results in a cosmetically appealing scar that patients appreciate. A small incision is made in the hip crease sideways so it tucks into the groin and natural crease of the skin – becoming barely visible once healed.
  • Minimally Invasive – As an already small incision, it is also a muscle sparring approach. There is no cutting through muscle and the incision instead goes through the natural intervals between the muscles.
  • No Staples or Sutures – This approach means there will be no staples or sutures like with a traditional hip replacement incision. All closures have absorbable sutures that results in a small, thin barely noticeable scar.

2. MAKO Robotic Assisted Hip Replacement
A Revolution in Joint Replacement

Mako SmartRobotics robotic-arm assisted surgery is a revolution in joint replacement surgery for precision, recovery and outcomes.

  • Combines three principal elements to perfect the process of joint replacements: 3D CT-based planning, AccuStop haptic technology, and insightful data analyses.
  • The 3D CT scan brings unparalleled accuracy and precision otherwise hard to obtain.
  • Ability to save surrounding healthy tissues (make less cuts).
  • Improved recovery outcomes over traditional joint replacement.
  • Due to the precision of the implant placement, you will not experience the wear and tear of an inappropriately placed implant that sometimes happens in traditional hip replacement and requires a second hip replacement.

3. State of the Art Implants
Designed for Impact and Longevity

Not all implants are created equal and some wear out faster than others. The Ultra Modern Hip™ Replacement uses 3D Printed Titanium Acetabular Component hip implants, the gold standard in innovation and outcomes for total hip joint replacement.

  • Early in-growth (implant successfully growing into the bone), resulting in a more stable and lifetime lasting implant.
  • Hydroxy-appetite (HA) coated, dual-tapered titanium stem designed to match the natural shape of the femur bone for a consistent fit.
  • Not prone to loosening because the bone has so thoroughly grown “into” vs “onto” the implant.

The Approach & Philosophy of Care

In addition to leveraging the most advanced technologies and techniques in orthopedic joint replacement, the Ultra Modern HipTM Replacement integrates a fully integrated approach to care from your first visit to your last that further enhances patient recovery and long-term outcomes.
